Diastasis Clinics

Diastasis Recti (DR), or separation of the abdominals, affects 60% of post natal women. But for many women, the gap remains widened at 8 weeks, and left untreated, this distance at 8 weeks remains unchanged at 1 year postpartum.

This separation can lead to a lack of core strength and pelvic stability and, when left unresolved, can contribute to low back pain, pelvic pain, or pelvic floor dysfunction.

If you have DR, you have pelvic floor weakness, even if you are not leaking when you sneeze or cough. Sorting it, healing it and learning about it is the best thing you can do.

Having 1:2:1 time with Helen once a month at our diastasis clinics and pairing it with either a membership at our club or an online membership at www.beattitude.online, along with keeping up to date with the latest education and knowledge, will put you in a much stronger, healthier and confident position to keep doing the things you love.

The clinics are run by Helen Keeble – A Specialist Women’s Health Physio in Sport, and are designed to:

  • Educate you about diastasis/separation of the abs
  • Decrease stress and worry about separation of the abdominals
  • Get 1:2:1 advice and support to see how to alter it and how to exercise correctly
  • Support you to regain confidence in your body.

She will assess:

  • Length, depth and tension of the mid line (separation) – Breathing technique
  • How you connect with your core
  • She will give you feedback and information about the level of diastasis and advise a few things to be aware of
  • She will log the details and be continually checking the progress each month.

The clinics are appropriate for newly postpartum women, pregnant women, as well as women who have been postpartum for years! It is never too late.

“When I began my treatment with Helen I was coming up to 4 years post baby 2. Under treatment from a previous physio, I had addressed some occasional stress incontinence and made good improvements to my diastasis recti. However, I still had an area around my bellybutton which was soft, squishy and unable to generate tension. When I crunched up, this would bulge…This made me very self-conscious in my work as a personal trainer because while coaching clients through various progressions of core exercise, I was aware that I myself was unable to do precisely what I was trying to get them to.
